I have some bad news for fans of the Toronto Blue Jays. Third baseman, Brett Lawrie has been placed on the 15 day disabled list with a left ankle sprain. This is the second time Lawrie has been on the disabled list this season. He started the year off on the sidelines with a strained muscle in his rib cage.
With Lawrie on the disabled list, the Jays have called up Todd Redmond, Neil Wagner, and Juan Perez from Triple A Buffalo.
Despite not having Lawrie in the line up, Toronto shut out the Atlanta Braves 3-0. Edwin Encaracion, yet again, had a good night at the plate, going three for four.
The second game against Atlanta was a different story.
The Jays got hammered 11-3. Toronto’s starting pitcher, R. A. Dickey had a absolutely terrible night on the mound. In six innings pitched, Dickey gave up a astonishing 11 hits, six earned runs, a walk, and struck out two batters. I see Dickey has gone back to his losing ways again. When is this guy going to get it together?
Toronto lost the first game against San Diego 4-3. Colby Rasmus went four for seven at the plate and collected two RBIs. Jay’s starting pitcher, Chad Jenkins gave up thee hits, two earned runs, a walk, and struck out two batters in five innings pitched.
There was more bad news for the Blue Jays the day after the loss to the Padres. Pitcher, Brandon Morrow was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a strained right forearm.
The Jays lost the second game by exact same score, 4-3.
The Jays won the third game 7-4. Adam Lind went three for six at the plate and racked up two RBIs.
The Blue Jays play the San Francisco Giants next in a two game mini series starting tomorrow night.
