Michigan picked up a commitment from Jared Wangler (Warren, Michigan) on Friday. Wangler, an Under Armor All-American, had been committed to Penn State. However, when he received a Michigan offer it was a dream come true and an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass up. Wangler is of course the son of former Michigan quarterback John Wangler. He is the brother of Jack Wangler, a freshman walk-on at Michigan, and the good friend of Shane Morris.
Wangler is considered a 3-star recruit and had performed well at camps this summer. As a junior at De La Salle, Wangler racked up 86 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries and an interception. He is a smart football player who possesses good athleticism and he was born to be a Wolverine.
He is commitment number 15 for Michigan’s 2014 recruiting class, one in which space is becoming limited. However, with early enrollees and attrition, Michigan still has room to accept commitments from recruits like Da’Shawn Hand, Malik McDowell and others.
