August 31. Not really a significant date for most. However, August 31st is the deadline for final roster cuts for all NFL teams, leaving players secure in their position or job hunting and heartbroken.

Those whose names are still on the roster are only concerned with one thing: the NFL opener in Denver on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. That 38-35 double over-time victory last year for the Ravens is still sour in our mouths, or at least mine. On Sunday, John Harbaugh spoke with Denver media about the upcoming re-match.
“Well, if you love good football, you don’t get tired of watching it,” Harbaugh said on a conference call.
However, this time, linebackers Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil won’t be dominating the Bronco defense together. Dumervil joined the Ravens organization after a paper work conundrum this past spring, and Von Miller is suspended for the first six games. Ravens’ quarterback Joe Flacco also spoke to Denver media about the upcoming game.
“They’ve got a bunch of great guys,” Flacco said. “You guys have (LB Shaun) Phillips over there playing now and playing pretty well. We still expect a really, really good defense and guys that can get after the passer, guys that can play in the back-end.”
