I spoke about one game I am interested in watching for the second week of the NFL schedule, being the Manning Bowl with Hakeem Nicks in it, in another post. Now I will just quickly touch on a game no one might want to watch, even if it features another former UNC Football player, Chicago hosting Minnesota.
Sure, I love to watch Julius Peppers roam the defensive line and try his hardest to get to the opposing QB, but with the state of the field at Soldier Stadium, I think today’s game is just going to look more like a mud wrestling event than an NFL game.

How come something like this happens? Two games in less than 24 hours, one college and one pro, along with rain. And while the field will probably take a beating today, you have to wonder, how bad will it get as the season progress, since the winters are not mild in the Windy City.
With the NFL having become, and rightly so, very rigid on ensuring that players do not get hurt, will the commissioner begin to entertain thought about making sure the fields are kept as well as possible? Maybe, maybe not, but if there were to be several injuries due to it, the thought might turn into action sooner or later.
Only time will tell on how this game plays out today, and hopefully no one gets hurt over the lousy playing field, because that would definitely be one bad way to be out of action, especially in a billion dollar industry like the National Football League.
