Legendary former Liverpool player and manager, Kenny Dalglish, has made his return to Liverpool FC. On Liverpool’s official website, “Fenway Sports Group and Liverpool FC today announced that Kenny Dalglish is returning to Liverpool Football Club after accepting an invitation to join the board of directors.” Liverpool FC can welcome back a significant icon to the club as Dalglish will be taking a non-executive job that sees him start with immediate effect.
This will be seen as Kenny Dalglish’s first official role since his sacking as Liverpool manager in the 2011/12 season. His appointment will be seen as a influential and positive step not just for the club but for the supporters and the fans as well. His close affinity with the supporters can be linked with the tremendous amount of success Dalglish has had as a former player. During his time as a Liverpool player, Dalglish has amounted six league titles and three European successes during the 70’s and 80’s. At this point and time in Liverpool FC’s history, this was easily one of the best Liverpool sides in its existence. Dalglish would continue to add to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet as he helped the club amass another three league titles in which his last title was won back in 1990.

Kenny Dalglish and Brendan Rodgers met with Rodgers claiming that he had no hesitation about having a former manager and club legend rejoining the Liverpool FC board. Rodgers was surprised with the former manager’s drive and pride in returning Liverpool FC to the top. Rodgers had this to say about King Kenny, “When I met with Kenny to discuss this appointment, I was struck by the passion and drive he still has in wanting to see Liverpool return to where it should be – one of the most successful clubs in the world. We are all together in that goal – owners and supporters, players and management and also icons such as Kenny Dalglish. I want people around us who have this club and what it stands for in their heart.”
