Eblouissante, a half sister to 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, sold for $2.1 million to Ian Banwell’s St. George Stable at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale this past Tuesday.
Keeneland agent Tom Thornbury did the bidding from the press box with Banwell on the phone. Afterwards, Thornbury confirmed that Eblouissante will remain in training with John Shirreffs.
Eblouissante, a 4-year-old by Bernandini, has won two of her three starts thus far in her career. She suffered her first career defeat to Authenticity in Shuvee Handicap back in July.
Before the Shuvee, Eblouissante was fractious in the gate and came out of the race with scrapes and two broken teeth. Currently, the mammoth filly is enjoying a brief vacation before they run her again, which at this time, is unknown according to Shirreffs
