I hope everyone tuned in to TNT last night from 7-9:30 to watch the Wade show. It’s been awhile since the show aired and Miami Heat fans were happy to have it back.
People are worried about Dwyane being healthy and staying healthy. Critics and fans have questioned why he has rested so much. I’m all for Wade resting because it’s beneficial to himself and to the team. I honestly hope he continues to rest on and off when needed because it gives him fresh legs and a desire to help lead the Heat to victory.
He looked like the old D-Wade; the D-Wade that won the Heat organization their first championship. He made plays throughout the entire game. LeBron James hung low and let Wade take over and it was a good decision on James’ part. Wade scored 29 points, grabbed four rebounds, and added seven assists. He was dunking, shooting his off balanced shots and sinking them, catching alley-oops, and running the floor. This is the Wade the Heat will need come time for the playoffs.
As a team the Heat looked shaky during the first half. The Clippers were ready to redeem themselves after losing to the Orlando Magic this week. It was an intense game.
Clippers guard Chris Paul was very emotional throughout the entire game as he got a technical foul and had some small altercations with Mario Chalmers and Shane Battier. I always expect those type of emotions from Paul because he is the leader for the Clippers and he wanted that win.
At first, the Clippers were beating Miami at their own style of basketball. They were killing the Heat on fast breaks and were exposing Miami’s weak transition defense. The Heat adjusted after halftime and took over the game during the third quarter and didn’t look back.
Besides Wade’s stellar performance, LeBron scored 18 points, had six assists, and grabbed five rebounds. Chris Bosh was back in action and put up 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Blake Griffin led the Clippers in scoring with 27 points and 14 rebounds while Chris Paul scored 11 points and had 12 assists.
Another thing the Clippers did well was outrebound the Heat and Blake Griffin was grabbing a lot of those. The Heat need Bosh and LeBron to do a better job grabbing rebounds because those rebounds lead to fast breaks. The main thing is, the Heat got the victory. They won 102-97, putting them at 4-2 for the season.
Wade put on a show and looks to be healthy. LeBron still doesn’t look like his complete self but I know he’ll get back; no worries.
Overall, the Heat look good. They’re playing championship basketball. They played championship defense last night as they had the Clippers rushing shots and turning the ball over late in the game. These are things the Heat will have to continue to do against every team because every team in the league will play them hard. A healthy Wade, an MVP LeBron, and a championship mindset and game playing team are some key components for the Heat’s success. The Heat’s next game will be Saturday against the Boston Celtics.
