Very small schedule last night with just a pair of games on the slate. However, for those that follow former Heels at the next level they were fortunate as both games had a touch of carolina blue and both were televised nationally on TNT. And as usual, if there are games with players that once called Chapel Hill on ISPORTSWEB there will be the daily recap called “North Carolina in the NBA”…
The Game: The first game of the night is the one between the Los Angeles Clippers (+5.5) and the Oklahoma City Thunder, in what was the second of two match ups between them, with the first one going to the Clippers 111 to 103. The game was played at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in front of a sold out crowd of 18,203 and was televised by TNT. For the visiting squad it’s a pair of a former Heels, one of them not playing, which would be veteran power forward Antawn Jamison, and the other getting into the game. Which would be rookie shooting guard Reggie Bullock, who comes off the bench for 17 minutes in this one. In that time span the first year man scores five points (2 for 6 ~ 1 for 5 ~ 0 for 0) to go with a pair of rebounds and having a pts differential of -3. In the end it was the home team winning, as Oklahoma City downed Los Angeles by double digits, with the final score being 105 to 91.
The Franchise: The loss slides the Clippers to 8 and 5 (3-4 on the road) for the season and the team is now sixth in the Western Conference, half a game ahead of the last playoff spot. The squad will be once again in action on 11/23 when they host the Kings.
The Game: The other game of the night is the one between the Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets (+1) which was the first of a pair of clashes between the franchises. The game was shown on tv nationally on TNT and disputed at the Pepsi Center in front of a crowd that numbered 18,423. For the home squad it’s floor general Ty Lawson, who played a game high 35 minutes. In that time the speedster scored ten points (3 for 9 ~ 1 for 2 ~ 3 for 4) to go along with a team high seven assists, three assists, a steal and a team high four turnovers while having a -3 pts differential. In the end in this one it was Denver defeating Chicago by ten, with the final tally being 97 to 87.
The Franchise: With the win the Nuggets move close to .500 with a 5 and 6 (4-2 at home) record and the team is currently 12th in the Western Conference, 1.5 games behind the last playoff spot. The squad will be back on the court on 11/23 when they head to Big D to take on the Mavs.
