Paul was having a rough season for the Diamondbacks posting a slash
line of .100/.143/.100 in just 14 games. He was signed by the Diamondbacks in August and served as the team’s fifth outfielder.
Reimold is a five year major league veteran who has spend most of his career with the Baltimore Orioles. He has battled injuries his entire career, but when healthy he has performed well. He debuted for the Orioles in 2009 and posted an excellent slash line of .279/.365/.466 in 104 games.
He seemed to be on the verge of a breakout year in 2012, where he opened the season with an OPS+ of 154. He only played 16 games and missed the rest of the season due to injury.
Reimold opened the 2014 season on the disabled list in the Orioles organization. He got healthy and performed well in minor league rehab assignments but the Orioles had no room for him on the 25-man roster. He was claimed by the Blue Jays.
In 22 games this year for the Jays, Reimold has struck out a lot and is only hitting .212, but is slugging a respectable .404. The Diamondbacks hope he can add some power off the bench. But one has to wonder how much playing time he will get once star outfielder A.J. Pollock returns.
