Yesterday wasn’t a good day for the selections I made in fantasy baseball. Although the pitcher I chose, Madison Bumgarner, pitched well, he was out dueled by Zack Greinke. Troy Tulowitzki had a good game getting a single and three walks, while Mets’ third baseman David Wright was 0-6 with four strikeouts! It is time to get back up on the high horse and make some more picks. There are a lot of intriguing match ups today and a lot of quality pitchers on the hill. Below are three players I like today:
This was a close call between Arrieta and Kershaw, but the Cubs’ ace is simply dominating right now. So far this season, he is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA. In two of his starts he allowed zero runs. Yesterday, I spoke on how I look for the top pitchers and then go off match ups, so then I should be picking Kershaw against the lowly Braves, right? Sometimes you have to put human feeling into your calculations, and after taking into account the pitchers and matchup, I think Arrieta has a slight edge over Kershaw today.
As usual, Chris Davis has started the year fast in regards to his power numbers. He has five home runs and eleven RBI this season. He is only hitting .213 but his job is to drive in runs and hit homers. Tonight he faces Marco Estrada a fly ball pitcher who is susceptible to the long ball.
The Blue Jays’ slugger is in a prime spot tonight. Encarnacion is batting .313 to start the season with two home runs and eleven RBI. Those power numbers are modest for Encarnacion and they will definitely pick up. His team faces righty Chris Tillman, who the Blue Jays dominated last season. Last year Tillman went 0-4 with 11.72 ERA. Toronto will get to Tillman tonight and I think Encarnacion will be right in the middle of it.
Those are my daily fantasy baseball picks for tonight. Check back tomorrow for more selections.
