Thursday was a nice day for my selections in fantasy baseball. Manny Machado had a monstrous game going 2-4 with a grand slam and three runs scored. Jimmy Rollins was 1-4 with a stolen base and Jake Arrieta got his fifth win of the year, although he had four walks. Today’s baseball schedule is spread out throughout the day, so my selections will focus on games beginning at 7pm. Here are three players I like in tonight’s games:
The Pirates southpaw has cooled off since his opening day start that saw him throw six scoreless innings with ten strikeouts. He has given up four earned runs in back to back outings. I like him to get back on track tonight because of the team he is facing. Liriano squares off with the Cincinnati Reds who have lost seven of their last eight games. The Reds best hitters are lefties and Liriano does fairly well against left handed batters. If Liriano’s command is decent after a couple of innings, I expect him to a pitch quality start ( six plus innings, no more than three earned runs) and hope that the Pirates bats get him the winning decision.
Segura has started the season on fire. He went from possibly platooning at the beginning of the season to a everyday starter at shortstop. On the year Segura is hitting .336 with four home runs and fifteen RBI. Tonight he faces Colorado Rockies pitcher Chris Rusin, who isn’t very good pitcher on the road. I’m expecting a big game out of Segura tonight.
Ryan Braun is my favorite pick of the night. He will face off against Wei-Yin Chen, a lefty who surrendered the most home runs to right handed batters last season. Braun is playing lights out this season, batting .338 with five bombs and seventeen RBI. He has a chance for a monster game tonight.
Those are my picks in daily fantasy baseball. Check back tomorrow for more selections.
