There is no doubt the talent that Aldon Smith possesses when on the football field. While his talent is unquestionable, he can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Reports came out recently that the Oakland Raiders defensive end is currently being investigated for a domestic abuse incident that happen over the weekend.
It is too early in the process to know the full details, but with Aldon’s troubled past, it certainly seems possible that he could have been involved in the incident.
A little over a week ago, it was being reported from sources close to the situation with Aldon and the NFL, that Aldon Smith was going to be reinstated come March. Now with this situation looming, that seems extremely unlikely.
The problem with this situation is that Aldon does not even need to be guilty, just being associated with people or being in a bad environment is enough to warrant the NFL to keep him out of the league for good.
The fan in most of you is definitely disappointed at this. The potential of pairing Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith together on top of Mario Edwards Jr. and Bruce Irvin would have been incredible. As of right now, though, it is looking like that is unlikely.
Aldon Smith is a troubled individual who needs to seek professional help in order to get his life together. Many people will hope that even if Aldon is proven guilty, the NFL gives him another chance. I am not one of those people.
When you are in a situation like Aldon’s, you cannot take risks of any kind. That means stay in your house and keep to yourself so you do not get into any trouble.
Aldon was incapable of doing that. The Raiders took a chance with Aldon when they signed him, hoping that a new setting would aid in him getting his life in order. Right now, though, it looks like that has not happen.
