The 2016-17 Michigan State basketball season was a mixed bag.
The Spartans were undermanned with the preseason injuries to veteran big men Gavin Schilling and Ben Carter, and while the highly touted freshman class largely lived up to expectations, a lack of contributions from upperclassmen was a detriment all season. Those deficiencies were on display during MSU’s 90-70 loss to Kansas in the second round of the NCAA tournament Sunday.
