Real Madrid is ready to make yet another bid for Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea. In 2015, the two clubs had agreed on terms to transfer De Gea but the necessary paper work was not processed before the deadline. The La Liga champions are preparing an offer of around £46 million and are optimistic that it will be enough to secure the Spanish goalkeeper’s signature two years down the line.

The rumors come as somewhat of a surprise to Real Madrid fans as current goalie, Keylor Navas, has played exceptionally well as of recent. He began the season with a sluggish start and allowed many goals in the back of the net. However, he improved drastically towards the end of the season and will likely head elsewhere if Real Madrid is able to sign De Gea. The La Liga juggernauts have had their eyes on De Gea for an extended period of time and some Real Madrid fans believe the move was inevitable.
De Gea would fit exceptionally well in the Real Madrid roster. He would be returning to his native land of Spain where he will be greeted with open arms from the community. A reunion with his Spanish teammates Sergio Ramos, Daniel Carvajal, and Marco Asensio would be on the horizon as well.
In the Premier League, De Gea has totaled 201 appearances with 76 clean sheets. Possessing a large frame at six feet and three inches allows more coverage of the goal. Although taller, he has no problem getting to the ground quickly to save ground shots. He is skilled at saving both long and close-range shots. In addition, De Gea has quick reflexes and is a confident keeper in open play and dead-ball situations. He does exceptionally well with the ball at his feet and can dribble inside the box. Most notably is De Gea’s discipline on the pitch. He has only received a yellow card three times and has never been booked with a red card. His locker room presence is that of a leader and he is well-liked by teammates and staff.
Real Madrid is loaded with depth and one might argue that there is not much room for improvement in the Los Blancos squad. Amidst the price tag and rise of young stars such as Marco Asensio, it is rumored that Zinedine Zidane has backed off in his pursuit for French striker, Kylian Mbappe. Goalkeeper remains one of the very few positions on the squad that is eligible for an upgrade and Zidane seeks to truly max out the talent at each position on the pitch as Real Madrid aims to repeat a run at the La Liga title.
