All summer long fans of the Los Angeles Clippers have been patiently waiting for their team to come back to action. The NBA season tips off tonight, when the Boston Celtics face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Clippers fans will not have to wait long to see their team in action, as the Clippers will face off with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Staples Center. The Clippers have had an interesting offseason to say the least, as they have seen their star point guard, Chris Paul, walk out the door to join the Houston Rockets in what was a blockbuster trade. The Clippers got some nice pieces back in the deal, including Patrick Beverley. The Clippers also acquired Danilo Gallinari via a sign-and-trade. He should be able to provide at least 18 points per game.
The Clippers could be a very interesting storyline to follow this season. They allowed their leader both on and off the court to go to a conference rival and re-signed Blake Griffin. It will be interesting to see how Griffin does without Paul orchestrating the offense. The Clippers imported foreign point guard Milos Teodosic to help relieve the stress at the now vacant point guard position. Teodosic was widely considered to be the best player in Europe prior to his arrival to the NBA. This team can definitely be considered a “new-look” team, which should be fun and exciting for fans.
The Clippers will be able to write up a completely new story this season with all their additions. While some people believe the Clippers have taken a major step back coming into the 2017-2018 season, there is reason to be optimistic. They have a bunch of exciting new players, and the same dominant frontcourt. The team will be competitive, and most likely will be fighting for a four through seven seed in the playoffs, as the Western Conference is extremely competitive.
