The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 108-92 in the opening game for each team last night. The Clippers flat out dominated this one, as the Lakers really looked like a young team with little organization on the floor. All eyes were on the young point guard of the Los Angeles Lakers, Lonzo Ball. The Clippers, however, made him look like a rookie who had no idea what was going on. This was a big win for the Clippers in a game where most people tuned in to see Ball, but instead saw the Clippers put on a clinic.
The team was led by its dynamic frontcourt duo, which should not come as a shock to anyone. Blake Griffin hit 52.2% of his field goals, which led to a 29-point opening night performance. He also grabbed 12 boards for a double-double. DeAndre Jordan scored 14 points on 50% shooting, and grabbed 24 rebounds, including nine offensive boards. These are some incredible rebounding numbers for Jordan, and it is definitely a good way to start the season for him.
The Clippers added a bunch of new players this offseason, so Clipper fans were anxious to see how they would perform. Danilio Gallinari was very underwhelming in his Clippers debut, as he scored 11 points on 3/13 shooting, which is pretty terrible. Gallinari is a very good scorer, so he should bounce back from this poor effort.
The other international player the Clippers acquired this offseason is Milos Teodosic. He also had a poor shooting night, finishing at 22.2% from the floor, and had six points. He is known to be more of a passing guard, and he dished out six assists.
The team won handily last night, and the stars really did shine. The ancillary players held their own and put the team in a position to win. The Clippers will host the Suns tomorrow night.
