WWE is hosting its annual pay-per-view Tables, Ladders and Chairs and this years addition was shaping up to be one of the most anticipated until plans changed. Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns have to miss the show due to illness, so to compensate AJ Styles and Kurt Angle have joined the show. The real thing making news is Kurt Angle is stepping in a WWE ring for the first time in over ten years, so for some this is seen as bigger than the planned Shield reunion. As usual let’s see who is predicted to come out as winners and losers.
AJ Styles vs. Finn Balor
One of two matches to see a shift, Finn Balor was ready to awaken The Demon to battle a debuting Sister Abigail, but now he faces possibility a bigger challenge in AJ Styles. These two have history debuting back to NJPW when both lead the villainous stable, Bullet Club. Although that history hasn’t surfaced in WWE yet, the existence of former stablemates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows in WWE has always kept that door open, and this match could be the catalyst. The fact that both are on different brands suggests that this match will exist purely for entertainment purposes, which in the eyes of the fans is good enough. Both are ring generals, capable of putting on a good match with just about anyone, this is considered one of the few WWE dream matches to still exist. It could go either way, but logically Balor will come out as the victor as he heads towards a clash with Brock Lesnar.
Prediction: Finn Balor
Kalisto vs Enzo Amore (Cruiserweight Championship Match)
No one would have ever predicted that this match would happen, but this is the WWE. Anything can happen in WWE, and the dethroning of Neville in favor of Enzo Amore carried a shock value not seen in recent memory. Backstage frustration seems to point towards Neville’s future exit from WWE, leaving Amore as the sole superstar to carry the cruiserweight division into the future. Love him or hate him, Amore is a talented superstar, someone who can generate interest from the words that come out of his mouth. He may not be the best in-ring worker, which is why someone like Kalisto is needed to carry the match. The question is, does Amore need the belt to carry the division, or should he stay on the chase while Kalisto builds momentum as a credible heir to Neville’s vacant throne to the division. Sadly Kalisto doesn’t have any sort of star power that warrants the gold, so expect his reign to be short and sweet.
Prediction: Enzo Amore
Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James (Raw Women’s Championship)
In an odd turn Mickie James finds herself in the forefront of the Raw Women’s division as she looks to dethrone Little Miss Bliss in hopes of becoming WWE champion again. Despite having a lackluster run since returning to SmackDown, Mickie Jamies always had potential to step up to the spotlight, and now is her chance. The problem is she facing arguably the lead women in WWE. Alexa Bliss has made tremendous strides since her days in NXT, and now she is the best women on the mic, and can carry a decent match with anyone. Bliss is on tract to become one of the best in history, and the best way to make his history is to beat history. Mickie James is a legend, and legends do one thing better anyone else, putting over young talent.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss
Kurt Angle & The Shield vs. Miz & Strowman & Kane & Cesaro & Sheamus
The main event took a turn for the worse when Roman Reigns had to be removed from the main event after getting sick. This put a hole in the long-awaited reunion of The Shield, so WWE went deep in their pockets and gave fans something they have been waiting patiently for, Kurt Angle. Yes, it’s true, it’s damn true. The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle is competing alongside Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in what is truly a fantasy match. They will look to knock off a team of formidable heels lead by the monster Braun Strowman in match where they are outnumbered five to three. Questions linger around how Kurt Angle’s inclusion will affect storylines, but one thing is for sure. Kurt Angle is not losing his return match, especially when The Demon Kane was recently added to the match for one reason and one reason only, to eat the pin.
Prediction: Kurt Angle and The Shield
