As the name of the day suggests Thanksgiving is a day devoted for giving thanks. With this in mind here’s a few things for Cincinnati Bengals fans to be thankful for right now.
The Bengals defense
The defensive unit continues to shine for the Cincinnati Bengals. They have the sixth best rushing defense in the NFL. They’re tied for fourth place in terms of sacks. The areas where the Bengals defense aren’t faring well are passing and receiving. Despite this the Bengals have remained contenders in games through their defense.
One player that stands out for the Bengals defense is Geno Atkins. He’s on pace to do better in key stats than last year. He already has the same number of solo tackles than last year. Going into Sunday Atkins has 21 solo tackles. Helping the Bengals rank fifth in the NFL in terms of tackles.
A healthy quarterback
Those that follow the Bengals know their offensive line isn’t playing well. Andy Dalton’s performances this season might frustrate some Bengals fans. However, he’s still healthy and hasn’t missed a game yet this season. That can’t be said about many of his higher profile quarterback counterparts. Such as the Indianapolis Colts Andrew Luck or the Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers.
The Cleveland Browns
While the Bengals are two games under .500 currently; at least they aren’t the Browns. The Bengals upcoming opponents have won only one of their last 26 games. The Browns haven’t won a game yet this season. They will finish under .500 regardless of how the rest of this season goes. A Browns loss on Sunday will practically cement their last place standing in the AFC North.
The Bengals tight end stepped up for the injured Tyler Eifert earlier in the season. Since then he’s proven himself to be quite effective. He stands out as the best tight end for the Bengals right now. Kroft scored a touchdown during last Sunday’s game in Denver. He currently has four touchdowns, the second most on the team this season.
When it comes to the Bengals there’s plenty to feel good or bad about. The Bengals can feel some optimism going into Thanksgiving. Given they are still in a position to climb in the standings.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
