The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Houston Rockets last night by a score of 113-102. Lou Williams led the team in scoring, as he dropped 31 points on his former team. Chris Paul scored 19 points and dished out 7 assists in his return to Los Angeles. The headlines from this game do not lie in the score line however, as they are all after the buzzer.
The Rockets stormed the Clippers’ locker room infuriated with things that happened on the court. I am not going to make any accusations as to what happened and what caused this until official word comes out from the league. No physical altercation resulted from this episode, but there was obviously some animosity. The league will be handing out plenty of suspensions as a result of this altercation.
With this win last night, the Clippers are now 22-21. Ever since Griffin returned to the lineup, the team has been playing quite well actually, and they could even contend for one of the bottom seeds in the Western Conference. Could this current swing in play result in the Clippers holding on to DeAndre Jordan, instead of trading him at the deadline? I suspect no. the Clippers are not competing for a championship, obviously, and Jordan is a free agent. They might as well try to cash in on one of their top assets while the can, and not lose him to another team this summer for nothing in return.
All the Clippers can do now is keep playing like this. They seem to be playing well as a team, and Lou Williams really is as hot a player as there is in the NBA right now. The guy cannot stop scoring. The team is performing, so the potential trade stock of Williams, and Jordan seems to be getting higher and higher as the days go by.
