UFC 220 looks to be the biggest clash in heavyweight history between the heaviest hitters on the planet and only one can walk away the champ. The light heavyweight belt will also be on the line in the UFC’s return to Boston.
Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou
This is a fight between two of the most frightening men on the planet. The heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic looks to make history by becoming the most successful man to ever hold the belt. Francis Ngannou claims to have the hardest punch in the world and promises a first round knock out. Miocic has no plans to allow that to happen. Ngannou has rose to stardom with his knockout ability, Stipe is better at knocking out his opponent in the cage, 76 percent compared to Ngannou’s 64 percent. Stipe is also the more well rounded fighter of the two, with far more experience in big fights. Stipe wins by KO in the second.
Daniel Cormier vs Volkan Oezdemir
Daniel Cormier is coming off a tough loss to Jon Jones that was later ruled a no contest after Jones failed a drug test. Jones is the only man DC has ever lost to in the cage and both are very controversial with Jones accusations of taking performance enhancing drugs throughout his career. DC could be thought of as the greatest light heavyweight ever if Jones was not around. Volkan Oezdemir on the other hand has quickly climbed the rankings after dominating the light heavyweight devision in 2017. Oezdemir is looking the end DC quickly and capture the belt from him. Unfortunately for Oezdemir DC does not go down easy and has beat some of the best knockout artist in UFC history. DC wins by unanimous decision.
Calvin Kattar vs Shane Burgos
This will be the second fight in the UFC for Calvin Kattar and only the fourth for Shane Burgos. These are two talented prospects in a position to elevate themselves in the UFC with an exciting victory on the biggest fight card so far this year. Katter has an advantage in overall time in competition with a 17-2 professional record in MMA compared to Burgos’s undefeated 10 fight record with three in the UFC. The three fights may not seem like a lot but Burgos has gained huge amount knowledge in preparing for highest level competition. Burgos wins by split decision.
Gian Villante vs Francimar Barroso
Gian Villante and Francimar Barroso will both be fighting to end a losing streak before it starts.
both fighters are coming off loses in which they did not look all that great. Villante has had some great fights in his past and should look to get his career back in line. Villante wins by decision.
Thomas Almeida vs Rob Font
This bantamweight fight is between two very competitive fighters looking to bounce back from loses. The Brazilian, Thomas Almeida, is coming to Boston to fight Rob Font on his home turf. Almeida is a young and talented fighter hoping this a the fight that boosts his position in the organization. The last time Font fought in Boston he finished the fight with a TKO over Joey Gomez. Font defends the home turf and wins by decision.
