Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been rumored to move to Arsenal in the January transfer window. The striker was not a part of Borussia Dortmund’s squad for their last game against Hertha Berlin. It seems like he wants to leave the club and Arsenal are showing the most interest in him. Nothing has been agreed yet and it is not one-hundred percent that they will sign him.
If Arsenal manage to sign one of the fastest players in the world, it would be a great addition for them. The north London club are in dire need of a superstar player, since Alexis Sanchez is most likely leaving the club in order to sign for Manchester United. Aubameyang would be their most talented player and they would rely on him to score all the goals for them. The Gabonese international has scored thirteen goals for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season and has scored one-hundred and fourty-one goals in all competitions during his four and a half year stint at the club. That is obvious proof that he is capable of scoring loads of goals for Arsenal football club.
His time at Dortmund will be remembered as a historic one. Despite not winning as many trophies as Lewandowski won at the club, Aubameyang outscored Lewandowski in his time at BVB and was considered to be a great replacement for the Polish International. He was the man that provided the Dortmund fans with hope that they would be able to replicate their 2011-2012 form. He did manage to win a Pokal trophy during his time at the club, but the sole major trophy does not seem sufficient enough for a player of Aubameyang’s caliber.

Although he has become a world class player, Aubameyang has won very few trophies in his career. Playing for St. Etienne earlier in his career barred him from having the chance to win a major trophy and play with the best clubs in Europe. He may have though that a move to Dortmund would resolve that issue but unfortunately, he has not competed for nor won the trophies that he probably expected to early on in his stint at Dortmund.
So their must be questions as to why the French-born striker may want to leave for Arsenal. Arsenal may be a bigger club historically and financially than Dortmund, but they are not necessarily playing better than Dortmund. Whether he stays at Dortmund or moves to Arsenal, the twenty-eight year old would be starved of trophies. Both clubs seem to be going through turmoil due to lack of quality management and board members. Their domestic competitors strengthening their squads will make it hard for both clubs to win major titles within the next few years.
Taking all that into consideration, it seems like Aubameyang would leave Dortmund for Arsenal for two main reasons. One is that he would probably get paid more money at Arsenal than he would at Dortmund and the other reason is because of the prestige of the English Premier League. The Premier League is superior to the Bundesliga in terms of the quality of the players and many players aspire to compete in it. Pierre is entitled to move to any club that makes him feel happy. This may not be a good move for him in terms of challenging for league titles and Champions League trophies, but if he feels fulfilled for other reasons besides title then fans should respect his decision and wish him the best of luck.
