The 2018 season of Formula One starts in just under two months. The opening Grand Prix sets off in Australia, as usual, on March 25th. Plenty of final decisions will come down to the last minute for most teams, but fans will get a look at the new cars their favorite drivers will be racing at the end of March.
Renault recently released information that their car, the RS18, will be unveiled in an online launch on February 20th. With the new car both Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz will be aiming for the top 5 in the Constructor Standings, as they ended up in sixth last season. The team stated they are hoping to be competitive against Mercedes and Ferrari by 2020, and this could be possible if we see a driver shakeup for either of the championship winning teams in the near future.
Their release date coincides with Sauber’s, meaning we will get to see how both of these teams incorporate new aspects, including the mandatory halo. Before that, Williams will show their new design on February 15th, and Mercedes and Ferrari will share a debut date of February 22nd. Lewis Hamilton was a large opponent of the halo, so it will be interesting to see how Mercedes incorporated their design.
Mclaren and Toro Rosso will round out the end of the month on the 23rd and 25th of February, respectively, with their 2018 car designs. That leaves only a few teams in which fans will have to wait for a final decision on designs.
