The UFC has been relatively quiet so far in 2018. Other than the occasional Conor McGregor incident, the promotion is in a dry spell. However, there’s a couple events coming up that could peak a lot of interest. These are the already confirmed matchups that I am looking forward to:
Jessica Andrade vs. Tecia Torres
Both of these fighters are coming off impressive victories. The winner of this could end up fighting for the belt next.
Frankie Edgar vs. Brian Ortega
Edgar is always a good watch, and the winner of this will be in line to fight Max Holloway next. This matchup could have some back and forth in it and Ortega could pull the upset.
Cris Cyborg vs. Yana Kunitskaya
I’d be lying if I said I knew a lot about Kunitskaya. That being said, any Cyborg fight is worth watching. Arguably one of the biggest stars in the UFC, Cyborg is a must watch.
Fabricio Werdum vs. Alexander Volkov
High level matchup here. Volkov has been impressive and Werdum is a legend. I could see Volkov putting Werdum to sleep.
Rose Namajunas vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk
The big rematch is coming up soon. Rose will be looking to prove that her win versus Joanna was not a fluke. Joanna will be coming for blood. I’m expecting fireworks.
Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
This is the fight I’m anticipating the most. This will be for the official Light-weight belt and will be a great fight. These two are the class of the UFC and should put up a solid pay-per-view number here.
Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje
Gaethje is going to be exciting for his entire career. How long his career lasts, remains to be seen. Poirier is a scrapper and we should be in for a brawl here.
Ronaldo Souza vs. Kelvin Gastelum
This is a sneaky good fight. Gastelum has a lot of potential and Souza has been a great talent for a while now. Both of these fighters have not taken the next step in their careers. This is a good opportunity for each of them to get back into the championship conversation.
