The Cleveland Cavaliers have been a huge topic this NBA season. Everybody is curious to see if they can somehow make a fourth straight finals appearance.
Since Christmas, the Cavaliers have really struggled, winning only a handful of games during the stretch. This led to a huge shakeup on the last day of the trade deadline. The headlining trade sent Thomas and Channing Frye to the Los Angeles Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.
The new-look Cavaliers came out firing before all-star break. They beat some fierce competition in the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
After break, however, the Cavaliers fell at home to the Washington Wizards. This was a surprise given how well the Cavaliers played the previous two games.
They followed up this defeat with a great win on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies. LeBron James took over the game with his triple double. He helped dictate the pace for the game and made sure everybody was engaged and involved.
After a rocky first half, the Cavaliers were able to come out firing and close the Grizzlies out in the second half.
The responsibility of fast-tracking the Cavaliers’ success will be on James. So far, he has done a good job of integrating these pieces. It will be interesting to see if this team can continue to improve.
