It’s just over midway through the season for the NFL, and after the New England Patriots gave their fans a scare by starting out the year 1-2 in the season, they’re now sitting pretty at the top of their division with a 7-2 record. Before the season began, I predicted that the star franchise would start out the year once again ahead of everyone else; the exception about my prediction was that I thought the Patriots would lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars (which they did) and the Kansas City Chiefs (which they did not). The Patriots lost to the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night football 26-10. That was an unanticipated loss, but I was correct about one of the Jaguars matchup. Let’s take a look at the next eight weeks for the New England Patriots.
Patriots at Tennessee Titans
The Patriots and the Titans will be a personal and intense game for those on the Titans’ sidelines. The Titans played the Patriots in the playoffs last year in the Division Game in which Marcus Mariota and his team were defeated in an onslaught with the final being 35-14. It might be a new season, but don’t think for one second that coaching staff and players of the Titans have forgotten about that beat down the Patriots handed them. This year, the Titans have Logan Ryan, Malcom Butler, and Dion Lewis who were key players for the Patriots in recent years. Last year Butler and Lewis both helped in important roles for the Patriots even in the Super Bowl. However, the Titans haven’t been a consistent team, and it looks like Robert Kraft and the organization traded the players at a perfect time. Those individuals haven’t been performing for the Titans to the extent they were expected to. Patriots will win this game 24-14.
Patriots at New York Jets
Division games are the toughest no matter what’s the record of each holds The Jets always do well and create havoc against the Patriots. It would be a tough matchup and the Jets will put pressure on the Patriots. However, the Jets appear to be struggling, especially with the dilemma of their Quarterback. The best feature of the Jets is they’re unpredictable with their performances. This will be a close game more than people expect. However, there will be nothing better than a win on Thanksgiving weekend for the Patriots. New England will win 21-17.
Minnesota Vikings at Patriots
The Vikings haven’t been a consistent team when playing against Super Bowl contenders. They tied against the Packers, lost to the Rams, but then beat the Eagles, and have lost to the Saints at home. The Vikings haven’t proven to the world they should be considered as a Super Bowl contender and this matchup will not help. The Patriots are proving to be the number two team in the AFC right behind Kansas City. The Patriots at home will run over the Vikings winning 30-20.
Patriots at Miami Dolphins
Once again, a division matchup that will be difficult for the Patriots to get a victory on the road. The Dolphins defeated the Patriots last year on a Monday night football matchup in which everyone thought New England would win. The Patriots have not forgotten about that game, so this one will be a revenge tour for Bill Belichick and Brady. Patriots will be victorious in this Sunday afternoon with a final score of 21-17.
Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers
This could be the biggest test for the New England Patriots. Last year, the Patriots barely got out of Pittsburgh alive. The Steelers got a touchdown overturned because Jesse James couldn’t control the ball when divining to the end zone. Then once the Steelers worked their way into a redzone opportunity, Ben Roethlisberger did a fake spike and tried to score a touchdown. Instead, that play backfired on him and the Patriots intercepted Big Ben’s pass, and the game was over. This game will once again be close and look like an early possible playoff matchup. The Patriots defense will need to prove to the world that they can compete with a solid offensive team like the Steelers. If New England’s defense can’t hold their ground, then the Steelers could run away with it. With that being said, I can see the Patriots being victorious 24-20 coming down to the final drive.
Buffalo Bills at Patriots
The Buffalo Bills made Patriots fans nervous while watching New England play in Buffalo and almost receiving a loss. Now, it’s in Foxborough and it’s the Patriots turn to give the Bills a return favor. The Patriots offense will be a dominant force ready to create havoc with all their weapons, including Sony Michel who should be back by this time. This game will show that the Patriots could return for their third straight Super Bowl appearance. Final score 38-10 Patriots on top.
Jets at Patriots
This is a very interesting point in the season. The last week of the regular season, usually teams are already selected and cemented their seed in the playoffs. For the Patriots, they usually rest their starters because there will be no need to play them when getting ready for the Super Bowl run. Some starters might not play, but Brady will most likely be taking the snaps behind center. Patriots win with a final score of 13-10.
The New England Patriots will end the regular season with a perfect and a record of 14 wins with only two losses. Seven more wins means seven more amazing videos on Brady’s Instagram. The Patriots will once again be a top two seed in the AFC and fighting for another Super Bowl championship. Stay Tuned for the Playoff prediction.
