Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons (25-29) will host Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards (24-32) on Monday February 11 at 7:00 pm in the Little Caesars Arena. The previous matchup between these two teams was on January 21 and finished in an 87-101 defeat for the Pistons. This game will be much different due to the absence of injured superstar guard John Wall. Blake Griffin led the Pistons in all three main categories with twenty-nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists. The Wizards had Trevor Ariza leading the scoring with twenty, Thomas Bryant has twelve rebounds, and Tomas Satoransky had eight assists.
The Washington Wizards played their last game against their trade partner earlier in the week, the struggling Chicago Bulls. The Washington Wizards acquired forwards Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis and a second-round pick for forward Otto Porter Jr. earlier in the week. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with thirty-one points. Chasson Randle and Parker both added twenty points to the Wizards 134-125 victory. Another Wizards trade was forward Markieff Morris for guard Wesley Johnson. Otto Porter Jr.’s first game in a Bulls jersey ended with seventeen points.
Detroit’s last game was the second game of the home and home with the New York Knicks. The Pistons won 120-103 in a game dominated by Dennis Smith Jr.’s thirty points and yet another 20-20 game from Andre Drummond (29-20). Other standout players on the Pistons were Blake Griffin with twenty-six points, and twenty-points from Reggie Jackson. The Knicks had eleven points from Mitchell Robinson and fourteen from DeAndre Jordan, but it was all DSJ for the Knicks.
On the surface, this doesn’t appear to be a great game, but it really is. This is a big game for the draft order for the Zion Williamson sweepstakes. The Pistons would move from the eleventh best odds to as high as seven. I would predict Detroit’s starting five as Jackson, Brown, Kennard, Griffin, Drummond and Washington’s as Satoransky, Beal, Ariza, Green, Bryant.I’m going to predict a 115-103 Wizards victory.
